singers have become highly coveted in a world that has learned to harness the power of the human voice. aria is a singer detained by the government in a high security specialized prison only known as the facility, and one supposedly so powerful, her captors have installed a mechanism in her so she can't use her voice unless they want her to.

— glyssa, the newest inmate who tries to befriend aria to learn the ways of the facility and the singers.
— ritmo, a friend of glyssa's from school who is also captured and detained in the facility for aiding her attempts to hide her singing abilities from the government.
— jette, a singer who has been detained in the facility since he was a child together with his sister. son of a fallen rebel leader.
— berceuse, a deaf guard who is kinder to aria than most, mostly because she knows how to sign.
— the general, the person in charge of the facility and the experiments on the singers. aria hates him.
— the quartet, four singers who serve the general. aria hates them too.
